Profile

Writer

Jono Pryor is a seasoned writer and creator with over 20 years of experience across television, radio, and digital media. With a strong voice, sharp humour, and a passion for bold, character-driven storytelling, he’s behind some of New Zealand’s most iconic comedic content.

As co-creator and head writer of the multi-award-winning Jono and Ben, Jono helped define a generation of Kiwi comedy. He recently created and wrote Vince (2024), a scripted series about a disgraced breakfast TV host, which went on to win Best Comedy Programme at the 2025 New Zealand Screen Awards.

Currently in development are The Neighbour—a dark suburban comedy about kindness gone wrong—and Vicarious, a sharp satire on modern parenting and sideline culture.
