New Zealand (NZ) born and bred, London trained Actress, Rena Owen has enjoyed an illustrious international award winning career in Theater, Television & Film spanning 35+ years. She is one of only six actors in the world and the only female to date to have worked with both filmmaking legends George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. Rena is best known for her leading role as Beth Heke in the cult classic NZ film, 'Once Were Warriors', Taun We in 'Star Wars Attack of the Clones' & 'The Bad Batch', Nee Alavar in 'Star Wars Revenge of the Sith', Glaeser in Vin Diesel's 'The Last Witch Hunter', Helen in Freeform's hit TV series 'Siren', Heveena in Seth MacFarlane's TV series 'The Orville’ and Stan’s mini series, ‘The Gloaming’ among numerous other credits. Having demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in the field of theatrical motion pictures, Rena was honored to be accepted as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, AMPAS Class of 2022. She won the Septimius 2023 Best Oceanic Actress Award in Europe for her title role portraying iconic NZ trailblazing legend, ‘Whina’. Rena is currently in post production for Disney’s highly anticipated live-action ‘Moana’ in which she stars as beloved Gramma Tala, to be released July 2026.
