Career Highlights

Cian Elyse White is a New Zealand Maori actress who trained at the prestigious Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama school, being the youngest entrant to the school at age 17. In her second year, Cian was awarded the prestigious Shakespeare Globe Centre NZ Museum hotel Scholarship worth $10,000.00, in recognition of her excellence in the programme.

Since graduating, Cian Elyse has worked back to back in national and international theatre, televison and film. Having trained in Classical Ballet for 15 year’s as well as American Jazz Ballet and Hip-hop, Cian’s early career started in Musical theatre at high school where she was able to exercise her love for music and singing as well as dance.

Cian hails from an acting legacy, her first cousin being successful Maori actor, Cliff Curtis (Blow, Training day, Three kings). Having seconded to L.A in her final year at drama school, Cian was able to spend time with her cousin on set at paramount pictures. Cian also writes for theatre, her play ‘Te Puhi’ -about the first Maori Miss NZ- was a finalist in the prestigious Adam Awards for NZ play of the year in 2015. She also produces and directs theatre, Cian’s latest theatre project being a re-hash of an old New Zealand Classic, ‘Ng? Puke’, which had a sold out season in Auckland DEC 2015 and is about to embark on a national tour.

More recently, Cian worked on the BBC America T.V. show, ‘TATAU’, where she played compromised under-cover cop- Lara Morgan- alongside some of New Zealand’s acting greats including Lawrence Makaore (James Bond- Die another day) and Temuera Morrison (Once were warriors). Currently, Cian can be seen on our screens in the number one T.V show in Australasia, ‘800 Words’, where she plays surfing goddess, Hannah Richards.

In November 2015, Cian attended the international ‘Casting Hothouse’ with various American casting directors including the wonderful Kerry Barden, who praised Cian for her acting audition and American Accent. Cian has also participated in numerous American Accent workshops including an intensive with ’Shannara Chronicle’s’ and ‘Ash Vs. Evil Dead’ American accent coach, Chris Stewart.
