Noelle McCarthy hadn’t been near a microphone until she hit New Zealand shores in 2003, but with her lilting Irish accent and witty repartee, she’s now one of the country’s favourite broadcasters. Nominated for best new broadcaster at the 2005 New Zealand Radio Awards, and for best recorded New Zealand music programme at the 2006 Radio Awards, Noelle has clocked up a host of local broadcasting roles and now resides at Radio New Zealand National, producing and hosting the station’s afternoon show. In her spare time she dreams about fashion and Dracula (the topic of her still-unfinished Master’s thesis) and winning New Zealand’s next pub quiz championships.
